For the artists on Twitter

I stumbled upon something on Twitter that some of you artists might be interested in participating in, if you don't already know about it. Chet Zar, who many of you probably know of I'm sure, has started a neat little event on Twitter called #FridayNightArtDorks. The basic idea is, if you're an artist on twitter and you happen to be working on some artwork on Friday night, tweet a photo of what you're working on, with the #FridayNightArtDorks hash tag attached to your tweet. Basically it's just a fun way to share what you're working on with not only your twitter followers but new people as well, which makes it good for promotional purposes. Plus it's also a fun way see what other artists are working on in real time if you type #FridayNightArtDorks into the Twitter search on Friday nights.

Just thought I'd share that with you all, I'll have the next part of my video up soon hopefully, I haven't quite had the time to finish editing it.

Rabbits and Prints

I've been wanting to do something for awhile incorporating my artwork and sculpture together (a small print is supposed to go in frame) and this little guy is what I've been working on lately. This isn't anywhere near complete, but the start of a few ideas I've had. I really need to go ahead and bake this though, he's sitting here on my desk and his ears keep slowly leaning over to the left since I didn't have any wire to help support them. I guess that might help, I really don't know much about sculpting, I just do a lot of guessing and making up things as I go along.



 Also some of the small 4"x6" prints arrived today, the matte finish definitely looks better to me. Now I'm trying to decide if I should leave them like they are or round the corners of them.

Small brushes, prints, and research

I do love painting with tiny brushes, which is probably apparent in my videos. The other day I stopped in Micheal's craft store, which isn't something that happens very often since I usually buy my supplies from another art and crafts store. However I was there and decided to browse the art section when I noticed that Loew-Cornell has these cute miniature short handle brushes (the red and black ones). I doubt that they are anything new (well maybe they are, I really don't know) but it was the first time I had noticed them. I really like them though because of the thicker short handle, it feels like your holding a pen or something rather than your usual small brush. The balance is nice, I need to get some more of these.

Also I think I forgot to post about this before but I set up my new Etsy shop a few weeks ago, I'm now LostButterflies.etsy.com. Nothing is on there yet, but I know some of you who probably read this blog had "hearted" my old shop so I wanted to let you all know about this so that you can update your favorites. Speaking of this I'm going to now be offering smaller 4"x6" photographic prints and 8"x10" fine art prints (rather than 11"x14" since most people seem to prefer the 8"x10" size).

I received some of the small prints a few weeks ago. These have a Lustre finish on them, which is nice, but I think matte finishes tend to look better when printing traditional art. I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I ordered the Lustre prints. I've been in a crafty mood the past couple days as well so maybe I'll get around to making a few pieces of jewelry to add to this upcoming shop update, we'll see.
Right now I'm doing a bit of research on water deities in mythology.
